WeatherPortugal delivers AI-enhanced weather forecasts using data from Open-Meteo and IPMA. Our system processes thousands of data points hourly from real-time weather models to generate detailed, zone-specific forecasts for communities across Portugal. Each forecast area is divided into zones based on geography and microclimates, providing more precise predictions than regional forecasts alone.
We produce multiple forecast products inspired by the US National Weather Service format:
- Nowcast – Current conditions and the next few hours
- Short-Range Forecast – Detailed outlook for the next 2-3 days
- Extended Forecast – 7-day outlook with daily summaries
- Area Forecast Discussion – Meteorologist-style analysis explaining the forecast reasoning
- Advisories – Alerts for significant weather including rain, wind, heat, and cold
Currently piloting in Porto, Braga, and Aveiro, we're working toward full coverage of mainland Portugal and the island regions of Açores and Madeira. All forecasts are experimental and should not replace official IPMA guidance for critical decisions.
